What is Radiesse and how does it work as a collagen biostimulator in Bogotá?
Radiesse is a dermal filler and collagen biostimulator composed of calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in carboxymethylcellulose gel. It acts in two ways: it immediately fills and restores lost volume, and in the long term it stimulates the natural production of collagen and elastin. This dual action differentiates it from other fillers and provides results that progressively improve during the first months and last up to 18 months.
In what body areas can Radiesse be used at EWAH Bogotá?
At EWAH we use Radiesse in: face (cheekbones, nasolabial folds, jaw, chin), neck (to improve firmness and skin texture), hands (to restore lost volume and reduce the appearance of veins and tendons), and in hyperdiluted version as a biostimulator in face, neck, décolleté and hands to improve overall skin quality.
How long do Radiesse results last and how often should it be repeated?
Radiesse results last between 12 and 18 months, being one of the longest-lasting dermal fillers available. At EWAH we recommend annual or biannual maintenance sessions. Many patients report needing less product over time because the collagen stimulation induced by Radiesse progressively improves skin quality.
What is the difference between Radiesse and hyaluronic acid for facial rejuvenation?
Radiesse and hyaluronic acid are complementary but with different characteristics. Hyaluronic acid is reversible, has softer and more hydrating results, ideal for lips and under-eyes. Radiesse is not reversible but has greater structural support capacity and stimulates collagen more powerfully; ideal for jaw, cheekbones and hands. At EWAH we frequently combine them in the Full Face treatment for more complete and long-lasting results.
Is Radiesse treatment painful and what is the procedure like at EWAH?
adiesse treatment at EWAH is minimally uncomfortable. We apply topical anesthetic cream before the procedure and Radiesse is frequently mixed with lidocaine to maximize comfort. The procedure takes between 30 and 60 minutes depending on the areas treated. Mild swelling and redness may occur at injection points during the first 24-48 hours. Results are visible from the first day and improve in the following weeks.
What are the contraindications of Radiesse for facial rejuvenation?
Contraindications of Radiesse include: pregnancy and breastfeeding, known allergy to its components (calcium hydroxyapatite or carboxymethylcellulose), active autoimmune diseases, history of keloids, active infection in the treatment area, and anticoagulant treatment. Radiesse is not recommended for lips, eyes or very delicate skin areas. At EWAH we always take a complete prior medical history.
What care should I take after Radiesse treatment?
After Radiesse treatment it is recommended to: not massage or press the treated area for 48 hours (except on medical advice), avoid intense exercise and sun exposure on the day of the procedure, avoid extreme temperatures (sauna, pool) for the first week, apply cold compress if there is swelling, use sunscreen daily, and attend the follow-up check at 15 days.
